My Left Foot.

I swear, just when I feel like I might gather enough momentum to get out of whatever rut I am in at present, something happens. Two months ago it was the throwing out of the back. Truly unpleasant.
Today I broke my toe. Right before I was to go running with my training partner, Cake. I tripped on some steps in my building, wearing open toed shoes (GASP!) and took out the toe next to the big one on the left foot. Two things are out of the ordinary in this scenario.
First, the wearing of the open toed shoes after Labor Day. In my defense, it has been unseasonably warm and I have such a pretty pedi right now. This is Karma smiting me for throwing caution to the wind and disregarding the fashion rules.
Second, I was to meet Cake for a run not 15 minutes later. This is odd because I have not been running this summer. But we signed up for the Huck Finn 5 K in Hartford, which is being run concurrently with the Hartford Marathon. This is significant only in that Cake's husband will run his first ever marathon in Hartford this weekend. We are doing the 5 K for moral support and swag. I figured that if I signed up to do a race, that might be the motivation I needed to get back into my running routine. Nice thought, until I broke my toe!
Cake took a picture. Hopefully she will email it and I can post it here and share it in all of its bluepurplegreen glory!
This brings the total number of bones ever broken in my body to TWO! The first one occurred at an equally inopportune time, but I will save that story for a rainy day.
Ugh. This might make the 5 K that much more challenging.
